Pike League: Pitching and Defense

Nathan, Peter, Aniket and Steve lost to Angus, Alex, Amar and Ed, 4-0 at Great Woods Park.

Pitching and defense were the story yet again as Angus, Alex, Amar and Ed walked home with the win in five innings.

The big wind from right helped the victors on the way to a shutout. Nathan was threatening in the top of the third as Amar had some control problems, but Amar was able to get out of the inning on a double-play by Angus, the first GDP in Pike League action this year.

On the offensive side, Amar got the rally started in the bottom of the second as he patiently took pitches to walk the bases loaded and got lucky on some defensive miscues. Ed then broke the game wide open with a two run double to put his team ahead for good.

For the visitors, Aniket proved again that he is the man on the way up, brandishing his fast curve to log two strikeouts. We expect more as he applies his cricket skills to Pike League competition.
