Clem Victorious at Putney

Joe, Gus and Clem played to a 0-1-3 Clem victory at the newly redesigned Putney Park.

Clem took Joe deep with a two-run homer and later added an insurance run to seal the victory. He had several other shots to deep left that were hauled in for outs.

Joe, coming to Championship League play from St. Louis via the Bronx, was able to perfect his dive, crawl, lunge, pick method of fielding grounders.

Gus pitched well, not letting anyone he faced reach second base, but failed to get going offensively until the middle of the seventh, when he tripled in a run. Too little, too late.
