Carry a Big Stick

Angus, Nathan and Alex beat Dow, Peter and Scott, 7-5, with Nathan's Grand Slam in the bottom of the third.

Dow got the game started in the top of the first with a three run homer to left, and got another run over the plate with a double and walks as Angus had control problems. In the bottom of the inning, Angus and Nathan were able to capitalize on some errors and misplays to load the bases but could not convert.

Nathan pitched well in the top of the second to keep the visitors off the board, and then Alex went to work in the bottom of the inning. He was able to put two runners on before his turn was over, and then Angus stepped in to launch a line shot over the left field wall to plate 3 runs.

Peter led off the top of the third with a triple and then worked a series of walks and singles to get an insurance run.

We'd seen this situation before. Home team down, bottom of the third. Two run deficit. Nathan stepped in to get the rally started. He worked three walks out of three full counts and moved the tying run to second base. In the final at bat, he hit three pop fouls that were just out of play down the right field line.

When he got the pitch he was waiting for he smashed it to straight-away center, about 10' over the 15' wall, and rising. It was definitely the longest home run in Parking Lot Park's history, and may have been the longest in Pike League history. We'll remember this one for a long time, or at least until Thursday's game.

I heard the rumors. the whispers. Why are the numbers down since the league started testing for performance enhancers?

I think the questions have been answered. I can perform without the drugs. Not like I was ever on them. But if I was, then I didnt need them. I'm on the clear. I mean in the clear. Are we clear?
