There Can Be Only One

Angus and Nathan handled Peter and Alex, 6-3 on Lefty Day at The Lot.

This game started off as a pitching duel as no batter reached base in the first inning, a rare occurance in the Pike League. In the second Nathan got the ball moving with a blistering grounder back to the mound that was too hot to handle. The official scorer marked it as an error, dubiously, and Nathan has filed a protest with the League. Nathan drove the next pitch over the wall in right to put the visiting team up 2-0.

Angus got on the bus in the 3rd by loading the bases with a single, walk, and error. He then lined a hard triple to left to clear the bases and put his team up 5-0. After another single the visitors were up 6-0.

In the bottom of the inning Peter followed a walk and a single with a double to center to put a run across and make the score 6-1. They left the runners on second and third, however, as Angus regained control of his fastball and closed out the side.

Alex pitched a clean top of the 4th as both Angus and Nathan grounded out in short order. In the bottom of the inning Peter singled to center to get the rally started, then hit a neat opposite field homer to bring the score to 6-3. That turned out to be the final score as Nathan blew fastballs by Peter and went to the sidearm delivery to dispatch Alex and get the save.
