Petered Out: 5-2

Angus and Peter came back to beat Alex and Nathan as Peter brought the big offense in the last game before the start of the Pike League Championship Series.

Peter led the charge in the last game before the start of the PLCS next week. After giving up 2 runs in the bottom of the second on a combination of walks and singles to Alex, Peter came charging back in the top of the third. Single, dirty single, walk, single, 1-2, bases loaded. He followed that with a triple to deep left center, 4-2, and then added an insurance run with a single to right.

Alex and Nathan weren't done yet. Alex led of the bottom of the third with a dirty single, and then crushed a ball to deep left center which hit two feet below the bottom of the wall and by some twist of wind and spin managed to be only a double. Runners on second and third, no outs. Angus walked the next batter to load the bases, bringing the winning run to the plate. He was able to catch Alex looking at strike three, and then Nathan came to the plate.

Not the kind of situation where you want to face Nathan. Bases loaded, bottom of the third, Lefty Day. Angus had no choice but to go to the slider. Nathan was able to make contact, crushing a dribbler about 2 feet beyond the foul box for an out. Final, 5-2.

We expect to see many backroom deals over the next few days as the teams are selected for the PLCS. Scott is out for the season with a back injury, so we will have a 2 on 3 best-of-seven series.
