Nathan And Alex Take PLCS Game 1: 6-3

Nathan and Alex took the first game, 6-3, from Angus, Peter and Dow. The PLCS is a best of seven series to crown the 2007 Pike League Champion.

Angus got off on the wrong foot in the first. And then it got worse. After walking Nathan twice he hung a slider which Nathan deposited over the fence in center, 3-0. Angus then walked Nathan again before sitting him down. He went to the playbook against Alex, a strict diet of fastballs over the middle of the plate, which had worked well in the past. Not today. Alex stepped up on the big stage and hit back to back doubles to make the score 6-0 after the first.

Dow was able to get some momentum going against Alex in the top of the second. After getting two men on he crushed a ball to deep left to cut the deficit in half, 6-3.

The score remained 6-3 into the top of the fourth. Angus was able to load the bases with two walks and a single, but then popped out to left. Peter was also unable to convert with the winning run at the plate, and the hole that Angus had dug in the first turned out to be too deep to escape from. Final, 6-3. Nathan and Alex lead the series 1-0. Next game: Thursday, 12:05 pm at Lefty Day Park. The teams will not travel to Righty Day Park until next week, where Righty Day will host games 3, 4 and 5 before heading back to Lefty Day Park for games 6 and 7 (if necessary).
